Therapeutic Stretching and Strengthening

Over tightened muscles in the neck and back lead to upper and lower crossed syndromes. This imbalance produces pain and dysfunction in either the head, neck and shoulders or in the lower back, hips and into the legs. When a facilitated muscle tightens and remains that way it leads to reciprocal inhibition of the muscle on the other side of that joint. Post isometric relaxation techniques can neurologically release over tightened muscles allowing the inhibited muscles to strengthen and bring balance across a joint.

Therapeutic stretching and strengthening exercises balance weakened joints to allow better range of motion, relieve muscle tension and increase blood circulation. The retraining of muscles and ligaments helps the spine hold its proper alignment.
